Busy, Busy

The celebrations are over, although I'm still grinning from ear to ear. A little clarification, what I received was not citizenship, but permanent residency. I can apply for citizenship in another three years.
Now that the celebrations are over it's time to get busy again. I did a little shopping on the weekend for threads for the tea swap. Lovely Weeks Dye works in very yummy colours, all ready to be stitched into the project.

A little peek at part of the project.
I've been busy quilting the "love" quilt, and am about a third the way through. I hope to make more progress on it today.
While I shopped on Saturday I also purchased a piece of fabric for this quilt. Still haven't decided if I'll use if for another border or just bind it. Hopefully you'll see progress on this one later in the week or next week.

Happy Stitching.

It's Celebration Time

January 22nd, it's the day after my birthday, and today I received the most wonderful gift I could have ever asked or hoped for. I'm now a legal US resident. Thank you to everyone who left comments and emails with warm thoughts and prayers, they were all treasured and very much appreciated. My God is a good and faithful God, who's promises come to pass to those who wait. This has been a very long (almost 5 years) and a very expensive (over $10,000) process, but I wouldn't change a thing about it.

Now I did say it was a celebration, so in honor of my wonderful news and new status I'm giving away this little table topper. You can see that I haven't completely wasted the last two weeks, my first finish for 2009.
I decided that I'd use the names from the previous post and those who sent private emails to choose a winner. The random number generator chose number 18, and that's........

If you'll send me your address I'll get it into the post to you.

Taking A Break

Some of you may have noticed that I've been rather quiet this past week. I've decided to take a little break from blogging until all the immigration process is behind me. My concentration level is almost zero and I need to take this time to bury myself in the Word.
Thank you each and every one of you have responded with prayer support, these are so very much appreciated. Please don't be offended that I haven't replied to your comments, as I say my concentration is no where to be found.

Happy Stitching.

Looking Forward

With the start of a new year comes lists as long as our arms of things we'd like to achieve and resolutions. I'm not one to make New Year's resolutions, by doing so I feel I'm only setting myself up for disappointment. I do however look to the new year with new dreams and new goals, both in my stitching, family and spiritual life.

As I look at these empty spools I see that my stitching has brought a lot of joy, a desire that I hope will continue this year.

At long last I've finally finished the piecing of the Love quilt and have it all pinned out and ready to quilt. Then comes the pattern writing. I'm sure many of you thought I must have given up on this one.....

Half way through putting the rows together of a star quilt. Using Amandajean's layout, with a few changes to the blocks used.

A Christmas quilt that I stared in the middle of last year, but never got around to finishing. The last of the applique stitches went into this one last night, so now all that's left is a final border and pin it out ready to quilt. Hopefully this month will bring a few finishes.

Speaking of finishes May Britt and Kris have spurred me on with their challenge to finish up some of these languishing ufo's.
Of course there will be new projects started, like the lovely new BOM that Anne from Bunny Hills has offered.
With the rush from this past Christmas gift making, I've decided that my Christmas stitching will just continue throughout the year until I have it all completed. No more rushing like a mad woman to meet a postal deadline.
Nanette has a wonderful post about Christmas stitching. You can find it here.
This month is an extremely important month in our house. Without going into all the boring details that have spanned the last almost 5 years, on the 22nd of January the Immigration department will decide whether I will be permitted permanent residency in the US, or whether I need to return to Australia. Please keep this in your prayers. I'm trusting God for a positive outcome.
Happy Stitching.

A Clean Start To The New Year

Happy New Year everyone, I hope this year is filled with all that you desire. I didn't have time to clean that horrible mess I showed you in my sewing room before we went away, so it was waiting for me once we returned.
Ahh a nice clean floor, I can once again see the carpet.
The cutting table now has space to actually work on.

The bed has been cleared of all that mess that covered it last week.

All ready for me to make a new mess. While I was cleaning I sorted through a couple of ufo's and decided that two need to be finished straight away. So hopefully I'll have some progress to show you soon.
On a completely different note, I've been asked by a number of people if I have a faith based blog, as of today I now do. If your interested you'll find it here. You won't find any mention of threads or fabrics on it, only words of encouragement and faith.
Happy Stitching.
